Probiotics and Phytochemicals: Role on Gut Microbiota and Efficacy on Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Functional Dyspepsia, and Functional Constipation

Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs), such as irritable bowel syndrome, functional constipation, and dyspepsia, have had a high prevalence over the past few years. Recent evidence suggests that foods bioactive compounds, probiotics phytochemicals, may positive effect in treating symptoms of above diseases. In this systematic review study, 32 published studies were selected with use comprehensive scientific databases, according to PRISMA guidelines, emphasis on recent interventional reflect phytochemicals improvement FGID symptoms. The compounds administered patients either capsule form or enriched food products (yogurt, juice, etc.). According results, there is correlation between consumption polyphenols, relief disorders. Enriching are regularly consumed by population, fruit juices, yogurt, cheese, ingredients disorders, could be possible novel goal for management these However, further required role FGIDs fully understood.
